PRACTICE
Political Law and Litigation
Overview
Pierson Ferdinand’s Political Law Team provides strategic guidance to a diverse clientele that includes corporations, political action committees (PACs), elected officials, candidates, political parties, and lobbyists. We offer insights into federal and state laws governing government contracting and ethics, lobbying, campaign finance, and elections.
Experience
Beyond compliance counseling, our Team is well-versed in defending clients in contentious cases and enforcement actions before entities like the State Ethics Commission, Board of Elections, and the Federal Election Commission (FEC). Additionally, our group engages in litigation related to political law matters. The laws that form the foundation of our practice include the Ethics in Government Act, the Federal Election Campaign Act (FECA) as amended by the Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act (BCRA), and the Lobbying Disclosure Act (LDA) as amended by the Honest Leadership and Open Government Act (HLOGA).
Our diverse clientele encompasses ballot measure committees, campaign committees, candidates, elected officials, chambers of commerce, contributors, corporations, independent committees, issue advocacy groups, political action committees, political consultants, fundraisers, political parties, tax-exempt and non-profit organizations (501(c) and 527 organizations), and trade associations.
We offer a wide array of services in various areas of practice, including: campaign finance compliance and litigation, corporate compliance, election law compliance and litigation, freedom of information, government ethics, House and Senate ethics rules, legislation, political activities by non-profit corporations, and voting rights under the Voting Rights Act.
