Release of detainee achieved by Partner Alicia Washington underscores PierFerd’s commitment to providing elite pro bono counsel

The matter was led by Partner Alicia N. Washington with assistance from PierFerd’s Chair of Pro Bono Services, Sharon B. Soloff, and The Door - Legal Services Center - reflecting the Firm’s collaborative culture.
Judge Gujarati found the detention violated the client’s procedural due process rights under the Fifth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. As such, the client – a noncitizen who had applied for various forms of immigration relief prior to his detention – was ordered released from custody and freed the following day.
