Pierson Ferdinand Expands Cyber, Privacy & Data Security Practice with the Appointment of Seasoned Litigator
Former Army officer and cyber law specialist, Scott Lupiani, joins as Partner – bringing robust regulatory and litigation experience

Based in Buffalo, Scott’s arrival at PierFerd follows over two years as Litigation Practice Group Leader at boutique cyber law firm, The Beckage Firm. He brings with him substantial knowledge of commercial litigation, cybersecurity, and regulatory compliance. The appointment is another milestone in the strategic growth of PierFerd’s Cyber, Privacy & Data Security practice - which continues to attract top talent and deliver exceptional results for clients.
With over two decades’ legal experience, Scott has a unique blend of experience in cybersecurity, health law, and complex litigation. Previous roles include serving as General Counsel for an FDA-regulated medical device manufacturer; while his extensive work in compliance, contracting, and data security has helped organizations navigate technology and health-related matters - particularly in high-stakes regulatory environments.
Scott holds robust litigation experience having represented clients in federal and state courts, and is admitted to the US Supreme Court. He has handled complex healthcare and technology litigation; led organizations through crises including data breaches and ransomware attacks; and has led internal investigations.

Scott’s career has been marked by a dedication to excellence and a no-nonsense approach to representation. A former Airborne Infantryman and Army officer, Scott’s decisive demeanor under pressure was forged during his 11 years of service to the country, including a critical role in Operation Noble Eagle, where he managed nearly 200 soldiers patrolling 13 ports of entry between New York and Canada.
Scott holds a J.D. from the University at Buffalo School of Law and a B.S. in Political Science from SUNY Brockport.
