Pierson Ferdinand Appoints Nationally Recognized Employment Partner In New York
Gerald Hathaway arrives at PierFerd with four decades of deal experience advising on employment and labor matters and resolving disputes
New York, NY – April 3, 2025 – Pierson Ferdinand LLP (“PierFerd”), one of the world’s fastest-growing law firms, is pleased to announce the appointment of Gerald (Jerry) T. Hathaway as a Partner in its Employment, Labor, and Benefits Department.
Jerry joins PierFerd from Am Law 100 firm, Fox Rothschild LLP, where he was a Partner. Prior to that he was a Partner at Am Law 100 firms, Faegre Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP and Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp LLP, and has held various senior roles at full-service and boutique law firms.
His practice focuses on labor and employment matters, advising clients on employment-related due diligence for major transactions, collective bargaining, workplace disputes, and risk management. Notably, he has guided clients on compliance with the federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act, defended clients before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), and has experience with matters involving various state and federal labor regulations.
In recent years, he has also helped employers to assess the risks and opportunities resulting from the use of AI and data-driven algorithms for decision-making in the workplace.
Jerry’s clients include private equity funds, manufacturing and logistics companies, retailers, insurance providers, and luxury goods companies. Additionally, he frequently represents stakeholders in the entertainment industry including major talent agencies, studios, and networks; while he also provides pro bono labor and employment services for organizations including The Apollo Theater in Harlem, Black Theatre United, the Ali Forney Center, and TakeRoot Justice.
He was recognized by Chambers USA in its Labor & Employment ranking for consecutive years between 2019-24 for his expertise in counseling on employment and labor issues.
