Pierson Ferdinand Adds M&A and Asset Management Specialist in London
Sima Kanan bolsters PierFerd’s UK office with extensive experience across venture capital and investment funds
London, UK – January 6, 2025 – Pierson Ferdinand LLP (“PierFerd”), one of the world’s fastest-growing law firms renowned for its commitment to client service excellence and innovation, announces the appointment of Sima Kanan as Partner.
Sima joins PierFerd’s Corporate Department in London, UK and brings over 20 years’ experience in M&A transactions and corporate law; focusing on investment funds and asset management, with a niche for place-based investments. She arrives from international law firm – gunnercooke LLP where she spent three and a half years and was a Partner.
Across her career, Sima has counselled energy sector clients on acquisitions and disposals of infrastructure assets; negotiated multi-party joint venture agreements for energy infrastructure project developments; and advised start-ups, scale-ups and institutional investors on establishment and restructuring of private equity funds across a variety of asset classes, including infrastructure, real estate, and impact.
Before joining gunnercooke LLP, Sima was General Counsel for the Local Pensions Partnership Ltd – the national UK local government pension scheme services provider. Previously, she was an in-house Legal Counsel for several companies in the energy sector.

Sima holds a Master of Laws, with distinction, from the University of Dundee and a Bachelor of Laws, with honors, from the University of Manchester. She is an SRA-regulated solicitor, first admitted in 2005.
