PierFerd Salutes Legal Trailblazers as Black History Month Concludes

As Black History Month comes to an end, we want to take this opportunity to salute those trailblazers who broke down barriers in the legal profession. There are names you know, such as Thurgood Marshall, the first African-American Supreme Court justice, and Eric Holder, the first Black United States Attorney General. There are others whose contributions have flown under the radar but are no less impactful on the legal community. People like Charlotte Ray, the first Black female lawyer in the United States, and Constance Baker Motley, the first African-American woman appointed to the federal judiciary.

Pierson Ferdinand LLP values its African American attorneys and the many contributions of African Americans in the legal profession. That is why we have committed to participate in initiatives and organizations that promote change, equity and inclusivity both inside and outside PierFerd. We are proud to recognize and honor the Black community this month and all year round. In the words of former President Barack Obama, “[c]hange will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.”
