Melissa is a transactional attorney focusing her practice on corporate, life settlements and other commercial matters. She also serves as an outside general counsel for a franchisor providing a wide array of counseling related to structuring, operating and growing the franchise system.

  • Prior to joining Pierson Ferdinand, Melissa was a partner at FisherBroyles, LLP. Prior to that, Melissa practiced with the Corporate and Corporate Insurance Groups of Locke Lord Bissell & Liddell LLP where she developed and implemented complex insurance capital markets transactions efficiently to meet client objectives and ensure regulatory and legal compliance. She has particular expertise in structuring and negotiating life settlement transactions, as well as sale and purchase of portfolios of insurance policies.

    Melissa’s experience extends to representation of institutional investors, financing entities, life settlement providers, premium finance lenders, life settlement brokers and other life settlement intermediaries. Having represented clients as wide-ranging as public companies, international and domestic private equity funds, investment banking and securities firms, small- to mid-sized companies and individuals, Melissa is dedicated to using a results-oriented approach to the practice of law. She focuses on delivering practical, yet effective legal solutions to enable her clients to achieve their business objectives with efficiency.
