About

John represents institutional real estate investors (primarily real estate investment trusts and private equity funds). He has significant experience in negotiating, executing and closing real estate acquisitions, dispositions, leases and financing transactions throughout the United States. This experience encompasses all of the traditional real estate asset classes, including retail, industrial, office, multifamily and hospitality.

  • With that background, John's practice focuses on the following key areas:

    Experiential Real Estate

As even the most casual observer can see, the world of retail real estate is in the midst of a sea-change, driven by the advance of e-commerce and the way that goods are bought, sold and distributed to consumers. John works closely with clients at the forefront of this change, to re-invigorate retail real estate by the acquisition and development of experiential uses such as music venues, theaters, restaurants, fitness, water parks, bowling, golf, driving, video games and virtual reality.

    Retail Real Estate Redevelopment

As the revolution in retail real estate continues, John also works closely with clients to re-imagine and re-develop traditional retail centers by, for example, introducing new multi-family and/or hospitality uses to the centers.

    Triple Net Industrial Real Estate

Coincident with the revolution in retail real estate is a revolution in the supply chain for goods and ever-increasing demands for industrial real estate. John works closely with clients to make new triple net investments in this crucial and expanding sector.

    Cannabis Real Estate

The cannabis industry in the United States is enjoying explosive growth. John advises lender clients on the regulatory and legal considerations in sale/leaseback and traditional real estate secured financing to the industry.
