About
Brooks F. Jaffa, a member of the international law firm, Pierson Ferdinand LLP, focuses his practice on the allied areas of estate planning, real estate law, and the formation and operation of varied business entities. He graduated with distinction from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2009 and with honors from the University of North Carolina School of Law in 2012. He was admitted to the North Carolina Bar in 2012 and is admitted to practice in North Carolina, the United States District Court for the Western District of North Carolina, and the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. After graduating law school, Brooks clerked for the Honorable Frank D. Whitney, Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the Western District of North Carolina. Following the completion of his clerkship, Brooks joined the Charlotte, North Carolina law firm of Cranford, Buckley, Schultze, Tomchin, Allen, and Buie, P.A. as an associate attorney before becoming a firm equity partner in 2021.

Brooks has been widely recognized for his practice. He was selected as one of Business North Carolina’s Legal Elite for his expertise in such areas of practice as estate planning and probate, real estate law, and as a “Young Gun” in the years of 2017-2019, and then each year thereafter, including 2026. Additionally, in 2023 Brooks was inducted into Business North Carolina’s Legal Elite Hall of Fame after his colleagues designated him as the top tax and estate planning attorney in North Carolina. The Best Lawyers in America and North Carolina SuperLawyers have consistently recognized Brooks’ expertise in the areas of estate planning and real estate law for the years 2019-2026 and 2020-2026, respectively. Brooks was awarded the Outstanding Recent Graduate Award by the University of North Carolina School of Law in 2020. The North Carolina Bar Association designated Brooks as its Younger Pro Bono Attorney of the Year in 2017, and he received the Mecklenburg County Bar’s Pro Bono Award for Outstanding Collaborative Project in 2018 for his work leading North Carolina’s disaster legal services project that assisted thousands of North Carolinians with their legal needs arising out of the devastation caused by Hurricane Matthew.
Outside of his practice, Brooks is active in the North Carolina Bar Association, currently serving as a council member of its Estate Planning and Fiduciary Law Section and he recently completed his three year term on the Board of Governors of the North Carolina Bar Association. As a third generation Charlottean, Brooks is committed to his community, benefiting it through his charitable work. Brooks served on the Board of Directors of Jewish Family Services from 2016-2019. Since 2025, Brooks has served as the inaugural president of the Board of Directors of the Nourish Up Foundation, prior to which he served as a member of Nourish Up Board of Directors (formerly Loaves and Fishes/Friendship Trays) from 2018-2024. Brooks is a member of the Board of Professional Advisors of the Atrium Foundation.
